For the 2023 Kiama Jazz & Blues Festival (KJBF), I was tasked with creating all marketing collateral and social media designs. My goal was to ensure these materials aligned with the existing KJBF brand while incorporating the creative vision of the 2023 poster, designed by artist Jazz Coor. Jazz's stunning artwork aimed to "draw attention to the traditional custodians, the undeniable bloodlines, and the cultural significance of this region," making the 2023 branding both visually compelling and deeply meaningful.
Collaborating with event managers, Jazz Coor, and other stakeholders, I developed a cohesive brand voice that integrated the essence of the KJBF brand with Jazz's vibrant poster design. Since the original poster was created using physical media, digitising it for various marketing purposes was a unique challenge. Jazz and I worked together to vectorise and separate the intricate patterns and assets from her artwork, which were then repurposed across a range of platforms.
This included designing materials for social media, the festival's website, public posters, set lists, and even beer cans for Stoic Brewing. Each piece maintained the spirit of Jazz’s original design while adapting seamlessly to digital formats and maintaining consistency with the festival's broader brand identity.
The final result was a visually captivating and cohesive branding campaign that contributed to the success of the Kiama Jazz & Blues Fest 2023. Locals, tourists, and jazz enthusiasts filled Kiama’s Hindmarsh Park and surrounding venues to enjoy a weekend of music, art, and culture. The festival’s vibrant atmosphere was mirrored in the marketing collateral, amplifying engagement and attendance across the region.
